In southern Virginia, a college student has created a solution that helps with the cost of gas. She has cooked up a substance in her kitchen that improved mileage in her minivan, getting 33 mpg instead of the normal 24.

While attending classes at Elizabeth City State University, city council member Volanda Watts created an eco-friendly substance that she says helps you get more gas mileage and won’t admit harmful and stinky fumes into the air. (Yolanda’s husband Eugene helped create their invention.)The Watts plan on naming their new company “Energy Alternative Ways.” They are waiting on a patent approval now, but they are starting to take orders on their creation. They say right now it costs around $600 to make.

According to the news report on local TV station, Yolanda says, “I’m just so thrilled that its working and actually giving clean air to the environment and well.”

Personally, I hope it works. I just think it’s a little early to declare success. In my business, you test the solution before you declare success. But the news says Yolanda’s husband Eugene helped create the product, but has not tried it on his other car, or his boat, or any other gas powered engine.
